My family celebrates on both saturday and sunday...so we would not be able to attend a party if it were that weekend.
I am not sure we would be considered the norm though...

I am planning one for that Saturday too.
As long as it's not Sunday on Father's Day you should be fine
I figured it was better than the following week- school will be officially out and I figured people would be going away

If the party was over early enough that we still had the afternoon to see family, it would be ok. We usually see one side of the family on Saturday and another on Sunday.

I personally would just avoid a party on a 3 day weekend or something of that nature. I think the weekend of Father's Day is fine.

We celebrate the Sunday only so Saturday would be fine. Though I'd probably appreciate either an early (i.e. 11:30) or later (i.e. 4pm) party so that we still have the day to get chores and errands done!

Definitely fine. My friend's baby shower is the Saturday before Mother's Day. At first I was a little meh because it's going to be my first mother's day as a mom, but I feel like I was just being silly. It's only a few hours, the day before. I'm not going to be going away anywhere.

Yay. I don't think its a big travel weekend. We are probably going to do a small party for DD that day as well since we're planning to go away the week of her birthday.

Eh. I would still go to a Saturday party but it would be a little annoying. If we were hosting Father's Day, we'd be busy getting everything ready. And even if we weren't, that would mean Saturday would be our only day to run errands. So while not ideal, I wouldn't skip a party that day.

We celebrate with my father on Sat and then FIL on Sun, so we would have to decline. I'm sure that isn't the case for everyone though.
