Those who suffer from anxiety / depression

If you feel comfortable, can you FM me or share with me if you have taken any meds to help? I think I am at the point where I may need to. Every day gets worse and worse.

I went on a low dose of meds for four months after 9/11 because I was in shock and anxiety ridden. I had to fly to Florida two months after the attack and I took valium for the flight.
I also was on a low dose of Wellbutrin for four months after 9/11. By the end of January 2002, I did not need the meds anymore.

My mom has battled depression all her life. She has been on everything under the sun. I am not a doctor, however if you feel you need meds get them! No need to feel so depressed all the time. Plus, in a few months you might be able to wean off of them like I did a few years ago. you are in my prayers

After the death of my daughter 9 years ago I was on Xanax , I didnt like it, I felt it was too habit forming.

Thats when my panic attacks started. I was on Paxil for a while and it worked wonders for me....I was great on it....but its dangerous to TTC while on it...so I switched to Zoloft and its so-so.

I am on it mainly to curb the panic attacks though. Each med is more helpful I think for different reasons.

I would talk to your Dr. My PCP prescribes mine because Im most comfortable with her.

I personally have never had anxiety, but Dh did after the blackout in 2003 and he was on a bus for 11 hours! After that, it became difficult for him to even get on the train. He takes Lexapro and has not had any side effects and it has totally calmed him down. He was very high strung before he started taking the pills and his temper was also out of control. All of these things have drastically changed as well as the anxiety, since he began taking them.

I know a bunch of people that have been on them and the KEY is finding the one that works best for you

I would also make sure that if you go the route of medication that you are sen by a psychiatrist and not an internist or a PCP. A psychiatrist has a vested interest in your mental health and will be able to directly address your needs. They will also monitor your dosages accurately. If you go on meds and come off too soon, symptoms can and do return and you may be worse off than before you started. Good luck

I take Klonopin for anxiety not depression. I took it for about 6 months after my mom died, stopped for a few yrs and just went back on it a few weeks ago because the anxiety started up again along with insomnia. Klonopin is the best drug ever, I swear buy it, It has no side effects other than relief of anixiety. I hate to be addicted to anything but this stuff really does help me.I used to get serious panic attacks.
