this takes the cake
my mother was speaking to a friend yesterday. this friend tells her that her SIL (brother's wife) is pregnant.
SIL's sister is throwing her a baby shower.
this friend, her mother (the MIL) and her sister are not invited to the baby shower. SIL is aware of this, it is not clear whose decision it is. they all get along fine, as far as we know.
but it gets better.
SIL (the one who is pregnant) sent out GIFT REQUESTS to the above-mentioned family members (and other people who were not invited to the shower). they are like invitations but instead of the date and time of the shower they have the approximate due date.
have you EVER heard of something so nervy and TACKY?

That takes Balls. I owuld send them a big empty box.  Get her all excited and then have NOTHING in it. But Im a hormonal witchy woman lately.

Gift request is very nervy.
As for not being to the baby shower, it if is intentional, my guess is that MIL, SIL, etc are not as innocent as they seem. As I've seen on this board, there are two sides to every story.

This is mean, but I'd send the "inviter" back a copy of my gift request along with the almost identical looking shower invitation, with a post-it clipped to the two of he that read "SERIOUSLY?"
