Prayer for Those Having Difficulty Conceiving

By Rabbi Nina Beth Cardin

"God heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds, counts the number of the stars and calls them all by name. " Psalms 147: 3-4

This prayer is phrased in the plural and written in the voice of a married couple. It is easily adaptable for an infertile person to say on her or his own.

On our bed at night, we sought the one our hearts ached for; we sought, but did not find, that one.
How lovely you would be, so we imagine, how lovely!
Every part of you would be fair; no blemish would mar your coming.
Who is the one that shines through like the dawn,
Beautiful as the moon,
radiant as the sun,
awesome as hosts draped in their colors?
Who is the one that our hearts wait for, wait for, as the watchman for the morning light?

In You, God, our ancestors trusted,
In You they trusted, and You answered them.

We will trust in God, for God's goodness is never-ending; God's mercy is without bounds.
We will trust in God, for God is our help and our shield.

May the God who made heaven and earth, hear our plea and grant us a child.

Based on verses from Song of Songs and Psalm 22

Re: This is for Theresa...and all the lovelies praying for a miracle of their own...

Sasha,

Thank you. OK, now I am va-klempt in my ganeck-tah-gah-zointsChat Icon and my senior year Eco students are due in the room in 15 minutesChat Icon

I had a massive drop in temperature this morning and a tiny bit of spotting so I think I'm out too. I had less symptoms this time than last... actually none. It's getting really hard not to get discouraged. Every move I make, everything I eat and don't eat, the number of hours I sleep, EVERY decision I make is guided by my desire to get pregnant because I have PCOS and many say that can be harder to treat than anatomical problems. It's getting really hard. I've come out to more people at work and in my extended family because I am sick of hearing their comments about pregnancies, stories about babies etc. My aunt actually told me, only this week, that my mother had a miscarriage while trying the FIVE years she did to have me. Most days I'm not sensitive but it's getting harder and harder to be optimistic when everytime you go up for battle you are knocked down.

I am so upset that with 6 women on this board cycling we now have at least 4 or 5 BFN. It's just not fairChat Icon

Thank you for the well wishes. Maybe next cycle.

What a wonderful prayer...thank you, Sasha, for posting it.
Theresa--
I've been thinking about you and hoping to read about your BFP. I am so very sorry. The lows seem to get harder with each month. We put decisions--our lives--basically on hold, waiting for that BFP. It is tiring and frustrating and so painful. Again, I am so sorry that this month was not it. Hopefully this summer, when you are out of school (unless your teaching summer school!) things will happen for you. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Baby Dust to all....

To all those trying...easier said than done...but when my SIL was having trouble conceiving the Dr. told her to relax and not think about it...apparently she was stressing herself too much and making things harder on her body. She booked massages, pedis, went about her biz like nothing and 1/2 a year later she was PG. I pray that you are ALL blessed with healthy PG's and Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am so sorry for all those trying...can't give any real advice...just many prayers!! May this be the month where you all gradute!! Chat Icon
