things your mother taught you for the holidays.....

if you put your hanukkah candles in the freezer they will take longer to melt when you light your menorah.

Don't throw the garbage away for a few days until everyone has all gifts accounted for.

Many years ago they through the garbage away the next day and my brother was missing a 10CD collection of Classical music. Cost about $30.

to remove wax from the menorah, fill a tea kettle full of water and pour the boiled water over the menorah. the wax will come right off. just be sure to put a paper towel in the drain to catch the wax.

Don't lose sight about what the holidays are truly meant for, and always tell the people you care about that you love them!

To label my window candles and keep them connected to whatever extension cords I need to use for next year so I don't have to figure it all out all over again.

Saves me soooo much time!!

Re: things your mother taught you for the holidays.....

We always used one wrapping paper per person. That way it was easy to identify who's gift was who's while we were opening everything.

To keep lists of what you gave everyone each year, and who you sent cards to. Also taught me to write lengthy notes in each card which is why it is taking me forever. Chat Icon

Re: things your mother taught you for the holidays.....

Make a little book and write down the past years events, future year predictions and hopes, pack it away with the holiday stuff.
One day it becomes a very special part of the holiday and a keepsake that you'll cherish.
I havent done it yet, I like reading hers
