Re: The Simply Delicious Kitchen - Macaroni Pie

Your food looks awesome. Maybe it's because I am Italian and I can relate. My mom makes a similar macaroni pie, but hers she makes a pie with a crust (top and bottom). And she uses spaghetti. But I think your recipe seems easier without making the crust so I will try it. Hers can sometimes get too heavy with black pepper, she cuts it back too as we are not big fans of a lot of it.

I have enjoyed all of your recipe posts so far, now just for me to try some of them!

Thank you so much! Chat Icon This recipe calls for a lot of pepper too but I cut it back a lot or my kids won't eat it. lol

Re: The Simply Delicious Kitchen - Macaroni Pie

My mom used to make a German version of this when we were growing up. She would add sliced frankfurters or cubes of ham, no cheese. Delicious.

First time I made it for DH, he loved it.
No pepper though, I can't stand it. He likes when I get the noodles crunchy.

looking at it reminds me of a kugel (noodle pudding) esp with the noodles getting crisp

Pretty similar. This is just eggs, grated cheese, and pasta. So easy!

I like the crunchy noodle too, the oil on top helps to crisp them. Chat Icon

I usually pop it under the broiler for a few minutes - but not when I use pyrex.

Anything baked in eggs is delicious - sliced potatoes are a favorite too, with bacon and shredded gruyere.
Dollop of sour cream or creme fraiche and chives on top to serve.
