That's it, I'm getting the Nikon D80! Last time needing help.....
What accessories do you recommend to get?
Hopefully I will be able to learn to use it before 2010

Filters!
I'm a fan of Tiffen, they arent' that expensive. The 2 basic ones you should get are:
- UV - for indoors
- Circular Polarizer
Also cleaning cloth to clean the lens/filter
Comfortable strap (the one that comes with it isn't comfy)
Remote control (I have yet to use mine)
Tripod
Carry case

wow, that's some list.
Maybe I should stick with the D40 or D60. I am excited for a new camera, but so overwhelmed too!
Do you recommend an extra battery too?

I love it whenever one dies I always have the extra one charged and ready to go

I don't have an extra battery. I charge mine every night after I use it. We took a trip to DC and the battery held up fine even though we used the camera all day.
Def. get the filters though. They are cheap and they will protect your lens.

Besides the camera bag, I got an extra battery and a 4GB high speed memory card for my D80.
I got the mem card and battery for really cheap off of ebay. I got a genuine Nikon battery for $24.
