Teething or sick symptoms BTDT moms please help

We have a tooth!! My problem is DS is VERY congested sounding and has a runny nose. I have been very sick and with that my MIL brought DS to the doctor on Wednesday. His tooth hadn't broke through yet and the doctor said it was just teething. My question is do all the syptoms get worse once the tooth has broke through the gums. DS has another one coming through too. I just don't know what to think, is this really just teething or is he getting my bad cold? I just don't want the poor baby to get really sick. Can you please share your teething experiences with me. TIA

Hey Randi! Bobby now has 2 bottom teeth... and his expirence was different then any I heard of. THe first tooth came through and he had no signs of symptons of teething...bit on my finger one day and wow it hurt!! THen about a week later he started getting what I thought was a cold. He had it for about a week. During that week, the 2nd tooth had appeared. Just as his nose was clreain up and he wasnt congested anymore, we both got sick with a bad cold... both had 102 fevers and all that. Only lasted for 2 days tho. I foudn that if he wasn't sleeping well, the cvs tyloenol worked wonders. I only had to use it two times. He never seemed too bothered with being sick either. HTH! Hope DS feels ok!!
