So not only is Noah teething but he has a whopping 8 teeth coming through all at once! Do you think thats normal?

Anyway, so yesterday I was about to go into a meeting when the lady from daycare rang and said he wasn't happy, he had a fever, he wasn't eating (apparently he eats a lot at nursery...who knew) and basically, what should she do. So I said give him some Calpol (which is like tylenol) and lets see how he is. I called like an hour later and she said he still has a fever, so at 3pm, I left work and went to get him. When I got there he was absolutely fine. He was fine all night, slept from 7.30pm to 6.30am. normal.

So today, I take him to nursery tell the lady (lets call her Claire cos thats her name) that he seems okay etc etc. 9.17 I am getting ready for a conference call and Claire rings again to tell me he isn't feeling well. I said, give him calpol and I will call back in an hour. So called back in an hour and she said Oh he's fine, its just his teeth. No problem. Okay. I said to her, Claire, I'm not really sure why you are calling me, do you want me to come get him. I don't know what to do when you call..
So she says, well I just call to ask if I can give him medicine. etc etc.

Anyway, What would you do in this kind of situation? Would you pick the kid up? Leave him for a few hours? Does your daycare tell you if your kid is sick...whats it all about alfie??

Anyway. the poor kid is miserable and he is asleep in a highly medised-ed state.
And HOORAY! Its Friday night!!!

OUCH 8 teeth at once?! Poor thing! If my son was in daycare and his daycare teacher was calling me to see if it was okay to give him something then I would appreciate that. I wouldn't want them giving him anything without speaking to me first, but this is JMO. If I called back in an hour and she told me he was still not feeling well, then I'd probably go get him, just because I'd feel bad that he wasn't home. I hope the teeth pop through, teething is so rough! Chat Icon

Just wanted to add that you had me laughing over - "let's call her Claire because that's her name", lol!

I only get calls from daycare when I have to pick Andrew up (i.e., a fever, pink eye). I've never gotten a call alerting me that he's sick and that he could possibly stay in the center. I guess it's nice that she's asking you before giving him the Calpol.

I would do what you did and check back and see if he's feeling better and then if not I'd probably leave and go pick him up.

8 teeth at once, that must have been horrible! Thank goodness he got thru it!

Just a question for you , does your center have a note on file from the Dr. saying they can give him this med? (whether it's OTC or perscription) I ask b/c I used to work in a day care and by law they are not allowed to give anything to a childd unless there is a note on file from the Dr.

Also, law states that if a child has a fever 100.0 or more they are to be sent home. Regardless if it's for teeth, the flu or an ear ache.

I don't know. I live in England so its all done differently! But when she gave him the medication his fever went down immediately and he was himself again. I can't asnwer your question!!!
