this is a website where your class can "adopt" a class down south and send them supplies they desperately need, especially the schools that are taking on additional students.
I went on the website and registration is temporarily closed since over 500 teachers registered in 48 hours!! but they said they will be reopening in middle of september. I am going to give this to my asst prinicpal. print out the page and give to your principal or other teachers... I am so glad I found this!!

We have our big school meeting tomorrow, and I am SURE this will be a topic of discussion as we talk about how to approach the subject with the kids. I printed out the page and will give it to my principal. Thanks for posting this!
