What age group are you looking for? Where are you located and how far are you willing to travel?

Re: Teachers & Parents...Field Trip Help!

I have to second the Alley Pond Outdoor Adventure course. I work for Parks & Recreation and we take our afterschool kids and camp kids there every year. The "obstacle" course really reinforces teamwork and helping each other out and also helps their problem solving skills as well.

I love the Atlantis Marine World in LI.

Also Madame Tussods and Ripley's Belive it or Not! museum.

Adventureland and Rye Playland is also nice but not really very educational.

What about a cookout at Old Westbury Gardens? I know that the fee would be low and it has the mansion the kids can take a tour of. Also you can plan a charcoal BBQ on the grills outside in the picnic area.

I'm also thinking the Intrepid Sea, Air Space Museum in Manhattan, Sony Wonderlab (which the admission is free), and Samsung has a technology lab (not sure what it's really called) but it's in Columbus Circle (59th Street) also in Mahattan.

I'd also look into the NY Hall of Science in Queens, they also have an ice skating rink in Queens as well in Flushing Meadow Park too.

HTH!

California pizza kitchen is a fun one! Students see the kitchen and then learn to make a pizza by making their own! Good for writing lesson on teaching writing steps

I forgot that one...we took our children there too and they had fun. Only downside is that they limit the amount of children/adults per session.

Some do but where I work at we're not allowed to take them out of NYC.

They (the higher ups in the agency) almost had a conniption that we wanted to take them to Sesame Place and also (the little ones) to the Land of Make Believe.

for 6th grade - the Discovery Times Square Pompei exhibit. Fits in with Ancient Rome.

I went to the Tut exhibit last year and it was great and well appreciated.

Long Island Children's Museum has trips for all different grade levels. 5th graders in my school went to Caumsett Park for nature study, Cold Spring Harbor DNA lab and they are going to Fire Island. 4th and 5th graders in the district also do a Broadway Show with a whole workshop....it's a wealthier district. White Post Farms is always good in the fall for the little ones.
