Talk to me about Weight Watchers

I think I'm joining this week. I have about 20lbs to lose. Is this even doable on WW? What do you like/dislike about it?

20 pds is totally doable on WW!

I am fairly new but I really like it.

It is about "budgeting" and planning. You eat what you want, within the points allotted based on weight, height, age, activity.

Re: Talk to me about Weight Watchers

Totally doable! People have lost a lot more than that!

I did my first run with WW in college. I lost 20 lbs and then stopped. When I went back 2 years later (totally dreading that weigh-in!) I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I had only gained 2 lbs. since starting.

It really is a lifestyle change. Yes the points are a little confusing and annoying at first, but they provide a great foundation. After a while you will just know the points for your favorite foods.

I also think that WW is one of the safest weight lost plans out there - and my friend who is a nutritionist agrees.

I say go for it - what have you got to lose? I would also recommend if you are doing it for the first time and you can get to meetings, that you do it in person as opposed to online.

extremely doable on WW...my coworker just dropped 20 lbs in 2 months on it!
Good luck!

PS - done it MANY times myself and always lost 20 lbs on it...then I'd get lazy and quit keeping track of what I ate and gain it all back Chat Icon
To me the most important thing on WW is to write down everything...you can do it online but if you're not in front of a computer at work all day I think it is best to hand write it all down...to count your points!

Re: Talk to me about Weight Watchers

I joined at the end of October and I am 3 pounds away from hitting the 50 pound mark. Weight watchers has been a life style change for me and it has changed my life for the better. I will never go back to how I was eating before. I feel like my old self again-even better in some ways because I feel so much healthier. I highly recommend weight watchers to anyone who is willing to make a life style change. It is not a crash course diet. It's about changing your eating habits. And if you're ready to do that then weight watchers is hands down the best program out there.

Good luck with whatever you choose and feel free to ask me any questions.

It's definitely doable.

I did it for the first time back in 2003 and lost almost 40 lbs!

I was able to keep most of it off until I got pregnant and now I just started again. I'd like to lose 25 lbs and in 3 weeks I lost 4 lbs.

It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change.

The things that surprised me the most when I started was things that I thought were good for a diet weren't really (I was eating bread that was 3pts a slice!) It was also interesting to learn that you have to eat a minimum amount a day to make it work - I had dieted before and lost weight but, it never stayed off - I did a low calorie diet each of these times and anytime I started to eat a little more, it piled back on.

Re: Talk to me about Weight Watchers

it is totally doable!

Of all the "diets" I have tried over the years, WW is the only one that I find really works and teaches you how to change your lifestyle to a healthy one.

Good Luck!

Re: Talk to me about Weight Watchers

As you know I just joined but i'm praying 20lbs is doable because I have 34 to lose to get where I was when I got pregnant with Rylan. I'm finding it a little time consuming but i'm sure it will get easier with time. It also seems to be alot of food to eat...sometimes I just forget or don't have time to fit it all in with the boys...especially with Xavier's crankiness. I didn't use all of my points the 1st day and last night I was eating at 11pm just to use them all...which i'm sure isn't good. I'm sticking with it for a month...if I lose weight i'll continue...if not i'll move on to the next. Either way I need to change my eating habits and this def will help.

Re: Talk to me about Weight Watchers

I just joined 2 weeks ago and have alreday lost 6lbs. Plus I'm nursing so that allots me extra points and the weight is still coming off. I am down almost/about 30lbs since having DS 7 weeks ago and I have 24 to go to my pre-preggo weight and another 5 on top of that to be at my ideal weight. I know for me, the weight is probbaly coming off a little easier since it's the start of losing pregnacy weight, but I'll take what I can get and I also find myself eating much differently already.

Re: Talk to me about Weight Watchers

Love this diet. I lost 16.4 pounds and joined in Feb. It is totally doable, and is real life and not a fad diet. It is a lifestyle change- I no longer want the garbage I was eating- I never thought I would lose an once on it- and here I am 16.4 pounds lighter. Chat Icon

That's a great thread, I didn't see that before. I'm going to try the "french fry" tip.

Re: Talk to me about Weight Watchers

Totally doable. I lost 27 lbs when I did it before I was pregnant (I packed on abou 20 lbs after the wedding and didn't want to get pregnant on top of that).

I'm doing it again and trying to get back to that weight. It works, it's just about budgeting like a previous posted stated.
