Talk to me about Disney in August

So I know it will be HOT but how hot? Undoable? We want to take out older DS back this year but we don't want to pull him out of school and want to go late enough that our little DS will be a bit older (and easier) so we are thinking August - insane?? I haven't been there in August since I was a kid and all I remember is it being HOT - lol!

Talk to me about Disney in August

I went in August a year ago. It really wasn't that bad. And it only got "bad" on our 5th day of being there and I think its bc it just wore us out more than anything. by our 5th day I was 'done' with the heat and just wanted to hang at the pool. lol. We have young kids too so I actually think it made it easier for us bc they are not old enough to want to wait on the 2 hour long rides and we did alot of sit down meals bc they were more into meeting the characters than doing the big rides. Also - the BIGGEST thing was planning everything early! all the meals and fast passes the day they open up. Trust me, when its 5:00 and still 98 degrees out you will not want your kids having to wait an hour and half for food.

We've done Disney in August. It was hot! It was 104 the day we landed. It stayed hit the whole week. Thankfully when it's that hot in Florida it rains. We loved the rain. We've also gone in July and it's hot then too.

It's doable though. You just take a/c breaks. Have more sit down meals. Look in shops more. Spend pool time.

We have done August, it was hot. July was hot. But, many of the attractions are air conditioned, so it's not too bad.

HOT!! but if you can deal with heat - totally doable. I've gone twice in August in the last 3 years. I went end of August so the lines weren't bad at all. When it gets bad - we'd see a show or find an air conditioned ride. We go for a longer time in August so we didn't have to go crazy to do it all and take some time to relax by the pool.

Talk to me about Disney in August

We always go in August and I am just a gluten for punishment. It is HOT. I am literally dripping with sweat and I do not normally sweat. What we do is go to the parks early, go back to the hotel for lunch until dinner and swim and hang out there and then go back to the parks either for dinner or right after dinner for a few hours.

I think it's totally doable and have done it many times. But in fairness we do 1-2 park days and the rest of the time at the pool. But that's how we would vacation no matter what time of year.

Re: Talk to me about Disney in August

I went to Disney this past August.
I am the biggest witch in hot, humid conditions and it didn't phase me one bit.
If I was going down to do nothing, it would have drove me nuts, but I was in Disney!
We did 5 full park days - morning to night and a full day at downtown Disney to kick off the week.
We had our misting fan and had a blast!

I honestly thought June was worse than August. It was actually hotter up here than it was in Orlando when we went.

We have been at the end of August- its hot and humid but not awful! We thought it was a great time to go, since it makes swimming and water parks more fun :)

A typical day was hot and humid in the morning, rain/thunderstorms early afternoon, then it felt SO much better after the rain. It definitely cooled it off a little bit.

Definitely bring ponchos :)

I would rather not go than go in August. We have been to Orlando in both Sept and October and it was hot enough!

I love Nov/December in Orlando.

We went in August years ago. It was so hot that the rubber at the bottom of our sneakers melted lol. If you have no other choice just go and make the best of it. Take frequent AC and pool breaks.

January was great weather but not quite warm enough for water.
We're going in April this time.

we went this year-- the last few days of august into september (right bf labor day). it was HOT!!! BUT it was manageable for us ( me, DH, and DS who was almost 5 at the time) AND we didn't even go back to the hotel for a break in the middle of day! Most days we kept at it from opening to closing. so many of the lines and rides are inside, so you have a lot of chances to get out of the heat. Just plan for it as far as having drinks with you, taking short breaks at indoor restaurants or shows or whatever
i'll say that crowd wise that week was amazing!!! we didn't wait more than like 15/20 minutes for anything all week. i think the only fast passes we really NEEDED were for Toy Story Mania, and Seven Dwarves Mine Train. AND we got free dining plan that week, too Chat Icon

We went in September with two toddlers and I still have nightmares about it.

This exactly. August is doable, but you need to stay out of the parks at the hottest part of the day.
