Taking that step to the RE

After the last attempt at AI in the doctor's office, we are officially moving on to fertility treatment. I spoke with my regular OB/GYN today (the one who was on vacation the past few days for Passover) and he said there were enough little things (including cervical stenosis) that warranted us moving on to doctors who can treat our specific issues.

So on one side, I am sad that we have to go this route and on the other side, I feel that we are THAT much closer to our ultimate goal of being parents. My limited time here on the IF boards has showed me how a land of virtual strangers with a common goal can really step up and support each other. The process stinks for all of us but when I see all of the ladies that have crossed over to the pregnancy boards and parenting boards, I am that much more hopeful that we will all be there too. Thanks again for past and future support. I know I will have a multitude of questions that will never end.

I'm so glad you're making the move to an RE who can address your needs more appropriately. We are all pulling for you.

Good luck to you, I am happy that you are taking that step ( it sure is a big one- but worthy)
There may be times that things are moving quick and times where time is standing still, but it is definitely progress moving forward.

It's the smartest thing you can do...as someone else had said "It's like going to a surgeon for surgery". This is their specialty and they are best qualified to resolve any issues. ;

Good luck, I think you are making the right decision. It's hard to admit it but once you do (that you have fertility issues), you can tackle the problem and be proactive. It takes time and of course effort but it will be so worth it when your time comes!

Good Luck Leslie. The hardest part is admitting there is a IF issue and then getting help. You're halfway there...and the end result will be so worth it!

Thanks ladies. On the heels of that news, I went to the gym today. While in the locker room, a lady looked at me and made mention of how well I looked (not in those words). I thanked her. She said "Oh I gained 85 pounds with my baby and he wasn't 85 pounds."

I pretty much said that I would trade places with her anyday and if having a baby meant 85 more pounds on my body, I would take the 85 pounds.

I have been a lot more than 85 pounds overweight so that wasn't exactly easy to say. People think the grass is greener. It isnt.

Leslie, I know it's a hard step to take, but I'm so glad you're going. I was devastated with all the specialists I was seeing at first. I wish I had the chance to check out this board as I was on my journey. I felt alone. Just know you are not alone and we are all here. Although I 'graduated' from this board without even knowing it existed, I will be here for you whenever you need me!
