Summer Infant Best View monitor - Newer model?

I just bought this monitor through Target.com because there was a sale and it was cheaper online. Well, the store has a newer model now and I like it so much better, But, if I exchange it I'll have to pay the difference which is $50.00. Is the newer model really that much nicer or work better? I really like the newer model, but really can't spend the money right now. Chat Icon What do you think? Thanks!

ETA: I received it in the mail today and it's the older model, probably why it was cheaper.

I spoke with a summer rep about this. The newer model is able to use 4 cameras. The design is also more sleek. The main difference is that the camera can work with batteries and not be plugged in if you need that...BBB has it and you can use the 20 percent off to save 40 bucks...how much did you pay at target?

I paid with tax, free shipping $156.00. I think it's worth returning and getting the newer model at BBB. Do you think so?

Re: Summer Infant Best View monitor - Newer model?

I'm the one who told maymama about the monitors...here's the deal.

I had the old Best View. I was perfectly in love with it...but saw the new touch screen "Baby Touch" monitor, and wanted it SO badly. I ran a little scamaroo...got my new monitor and couldn't WAIT to plug that sucker in...well, I turned it on, and it SUCKED. The picture was so grainy and didnt hold a candle to the Best View. Yes, the handheld unit was cool, and the touch screen was cool...but IMO, the I'd rather have the crisp, clear pic of my baby over those "new, improved" features.

SO, I thought "Ok, I'll just go back to the Best View, but I'll get the newer, sleeker model". After speaking with a rep, she assured me that the new best view would have the same great picture quality of the old best view, and that the changes were purely cosmetic. LIES!!! I plugged that puppy in, and sure as sh!t, the picture was the SAME crappy, grainy image as the touch screen. I knew it would be as soon as I saw the start-up screen, bc it's different than the old version.

Long story short, I'm back with my old best view, and could NOT be happier.

DO NOT waste your time and money figuring out what took me 4 trips to different stores and various installs of cameras, etc. Trust me on this one.

HTH.
