Re: Stress & TTC

i truly think a huge factor. your body is affected by your levels of stress. in my case my ovulation was delayed bc i was stressed. i learned to cope much better. i find that it helps to go to the gym to release all that energy.

I also believe that stress is a huge factor (esp the stress of TTC.) I was very stressed, putting a lot of pressure on myself and DH TTC, and always convinced something was wrong. I finally called my Dr. one day and got him to commit to a date when he'd start testing for issues if I haven't conceived. Once I knew my problems (if I indeed had them) would be addressed I relaxed and conceived. I don't know if one had to do with the other, but I definitely know I was more relaxed that month.

Best of luck to you!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think it does, unfortunately. The thing that kills me about stress is the way it's "silent". Like we say, "I'm so stressed" but when you do things like get late periods (which can REALLY mess with your head when you are TTC Chat Icon Chat Icon ), grind your teeth when you sleep and have an almost uncontrollable urge to strap a feedbag to your face so you can eat chocolate 5 hours a day, and not "feel" outwardly stressed, well, then you're stressed! Chat Icon (I am talking about myself here Chat Icon)

But on the flip side, I do think stress is managable. I think making time for special people and things we enjoy (whether solo or with others) and taking care of yourself, can really alleviate things. And while TTC in itself is stressful, we have so many things that can help us along if needed, things that were not available to women in the past. I keep telling myself that the last six or so months have been frustrating, and if I have to resort to other means then at least they are there for me.

Hang in there ladies. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Stress & TTC

stress is definatly manageable...Its the side effects of stress that cause issues, like TTC. Stress can mean less sleep, not a good nights sleep...that can cause immune problems amongst others...Stress can cause too much adreline...which can cause a lot of bodily issues not friendly to TTC...If you get depressed or anxious from stress, your brain chemicals like serotonin can be off balance which causes a lot more issues then simply the depression and anxiety itself.

So managing those things are the only way to try to be stress free and give your body every chance it can to conceive.

I agree that stress affects TTC. But, I can also say that this is one of the most stressful things I have ever tried to do. I never realized how difficult this process would be emotionally. It is something I haven't heard many friends talk about - I guess people just don't share this kind of stuff. I guess I just thought you try, then you get pregnant.
