streaks in dark nail polish - what am i doing wrong?

the only thing i can think of is that i'm not using OPI or essie. i bought a bottle of ULTA Professional nail color and tried it out - it's a dark purple color.

well even after two coats the color was still streaky (the way it usually is after one coat) and i needed a third coat!

i used a base coat on my toes, no base coat on my fingers, and the same thing happened on both.

did i do something wrong? or do you think it's the nail polish?

Did you put a base coat on? I know they do at the nail salon. I guess to fill in the cracks and such. Like a primer for your nails?

I notice with dark colors, even reds sometimes that if I don't have even pressure or the right amount of nail polish on the brush I get streaks.
I recently did a dark red by OPI and I did 3 really thin coats. The 2nd coat looked streaky but the 3rd made it look perfect.

i wish i had advice for you! i get streaks sometimes even when i get a manicure at a salon and they are supposed to be professionals! i don't know why that happens for sure.

ok, i am glad it's not just me. i definitely find that some nails look better than others after the second coat if i pay more attention to how much pressure i apply.

i used thin coats and they dried quickly so i guess it's not a big deal
