Starting veggies today.....have a question.....

Does DC REALLY have to have Stage 1? He likes his cereal almost chunky......spits it out otherwise!!

ETA.....also which veggies do you start with? Do you go by colors? I was thinking like the green less sweet stuff at first.....

Re: Starting veggies today.....have a question.....

I think (but I'm not sure) that the only difference between stage 1 and 2 is the size of the container. But I may be wrong about that.

DD loves things more chunky too. I've been making the veggies this way I can make it chunkier for her. It hasn't been too hard to do.

I think I started with sweet potatoes..and she pretty much eats anything!

I don't know about the stages. We are just working through them one by one.

We started first with Sweet potatoes too and DD loves it. She gets so excited when she sees the orange container. Now we are working on sweet peas.

Good luck!

Re: Starting veggies today.....have a question.....

Size is the only diff between the stages.

Regarding what to start first - you may want to ask your ped. Our ped had us do orange veggies first, then green.

So then you bought Earth's Best right?? The Stage 2 veggies in addition to coming in a bigger jar are in most cases thicker in consistency (the carrots are the same Stage 1 or 2). If your DC has had rice cereal, don't worry about the peas & brown rice.

Oh well, then the squash is a bit thicker than Stage 1 sweet potato, and the carrots are virtually identical.

Re: Starting veggies today.....have a question.....

The only difference between the stage 1 and two as far as the food go is the combinations...stage one is only 1 veggie or fruit while stage two is apple and pear or sweet potato and something else but the consistency is the same and yes I give DD stage two foods but I have tried her on stage 1 to make sure she was not allergic to anything

ETS: this is the case with Gerber

Re: Starting veggies today.....have a question.....

Thanks girls! Ped said orange veggies first......so my plan is give him the squash for 3 days to be sure he is OK with it. By then I am out of of oatmeal so will get rice. This way I can introduce the rice to be sure that is OK.

Then when I move onto the green veggies the peas & rice will be safe to use!

I am so excited to give him this food!! I think he will love it!
