Starting binky at 19 months? Should I leave it alone or stop it before it turns into a necessity?

So Clover has been attention seeking to say the least since paxton's been born. She has never taken a binky before but now all of a sudden she will see one and grab it and suck on it. Paxton does not take them that often, maybe just at night to help fall asleep. At first it was a game where we'd chase her to take it but now we kind of just tell her she's silly and a big girl. Last night she opened her door and climbed into bed with me and when I woke up this morning she was fast asleep sucking on it. Is it just for attention, soothing during teething? Should I just get rid of them all together so she doesn't see them. She doesn't ask for them if she doesn't see them. I have to admit having her sleep longer is very nice. WTD?

I would get rid of it. Why start a habit that's hard to kick for a lot of toddlers? If she is teething, I would get her something else to chew on.

My ds is 16 months. He uses his for sleep and teething. But I personally would not start at this age. I am trying to break the binkie habit but ds will not give it up. Now with a new lo coming if we don't break it now i have to wait until lo is older to avoid resentment. I wish I could have stopped him sooner but it was not happening.
