Dear Grace,
I am writing this to you with the intention of you reading it when you are 12. Grace, you deserve "privacy" once you earn it. You earn it by moving out of our home to go to college or to work. If you are under my roof and I am paying for your school, cell phone, health insurance, food, shelter, transportation, etc. know this...
I will know ALL of your passwords, and check your myspace, face book, and anything else like that. I will meet and know the parents of ALL of your friends and potential boyfriends. I will drive you to all events and NOT drop you off around the block.
You will probably call me the worst mom in the entire world. Doors will be slammed and I know you there will be days where you will not speak to me. As much as that will break my heart, I know your dad and I are doing the right thing.
We will go to bed every night knowing that you will be safe and know that you are loved enough from your mom and dad to be engaged in what you are doing as a teenager. Heck, you might just thank us when you are 30.
