Spinoff to the Safe formula post.. What water do you use?
I mostly BF, so I have always been confused about what type of water to use. I do use bottled water when I'm out, since I have heard tap water is no good. In the house, I either use Brita water, or I boil water in a tea pot, and use that. Are these all okay to use?
What does everyone use when they are out for the day, since bottled water is not recommend.
Who new RTF was not good. I actually always thought that was better then powdered, but was just more money.

I boil my water because the water here sucks. (Im in NC). I use bottled water if Im out. When I move back to NY, I will use tap water. It tastes just like bottled water. My Ped actually said not to use Bottled water. I forget why but just not to.

I use straight tap. I don't boil it, I don't brita it, I use straight tap.

You could always get a separate one and leave it on the counter, I know some girls on here do that!

That is what I do, it is just a pain when baby is screaming his head off.

Its not bad, you can use it if your out. Its not going to harm your child. I just bring a room temp bottle with me and go. Its fine.

My fridge has a filter, so I pour the water from there into a teapot and boil.
I am neurotic though... lol :)
My Ped said straight tap was fine to use...

we drink Brita filtered water, so that's what we give DD.
I wouldn't mind using tap, our town's water is voted "LI's best tasting water 2008"

Yeah, as I was writing this post I realized what I could do instead of bringing a bottle of water. I could just put water in a bottle and add the powder later. That is why I erased it.

Just leave the pitcher on the counter instead of the fridge. This way it's room temp. I always keep the brita on the kitchen counter.

My SILs do this, they leave their Brita out on the kitchen counter for quick and easy bottle prep.

Agreed! I asked my ped and she said tap water, not need to boil, when we did use powder formula we used tap through a filter.
I wouldn't use bottle unless I was out or something because 1 its not regulated as our tap water and 2 to me it kinda defeats the purpose of powder formula being less $$ if you add the bottle water and the formula costs its probably more than RTF at that point!

my ped told me to use tap water. we bring bottled water when we're out, but only for the convenience.
for the first month or so we boiled the tap water as per our ped. we boiled a big pot in the morning and let it cool. we covered it and took the water when we needed it.
