Spinoff to gifts and thank yous...
Okay, so I have this pet peeve that when I get a gift for someone - mostly family members, sometimes good friends - and when I give the gift to them, they respond with: "omg, Theresa, this is too expensive. You shouldn't have done that!" Most of the time the gift ISN'T that expensive (ie: a 50.00 gc to a nail place for my SIL's bday - no biggie!)
I get pizzed off when people respond this way! To me, it's just as bad as if someone said they didn't like the gift. I put TONS of thought and time into gifts for people, and it annoys me when people don't just say "thank you".
I don't know HOW this peeve developed, but I was wondering if anyone has the same or a similar pet peeve?

My SIL does this because I always spend more on her family than she does on mine.

Unless they went on & on about it that wouldn't bother me. I would just chalk it up to they don't know how to thank people with a "thank you - I love it" or want to gush more about your gift.
I'm usually more generous with gifts than people are with me.
My pet peeve is always being told to get a gift card.

my mom always says "oh melissa, you shouldnt have spend so much" but thats because I usually do, lol.
most people are very appreciative and thankful for my gifts so i havent developed a pet peeve.
if anything i feel bad when they make too much of a fuss, b.c then I think the gift does not merit such a fuss, kwim?
