Spinoff to does everyone know each other
Was/is anyone nervous when they attend GTG for the first time? I will be going to my first one this weekend and since i haven't met anyone on the boards yet or even get the chance to be online a lot, i am actually a little nervous LOL Just wondering if i am the only one to feel this way

As you know, I haven't gone to one yet, but I DO plan to. I don't think I'll be nervous, just maybe a little anxious in hoping that everybody has a good time and enjoys each other's company. I really would love to make friends with people who have kids my son's age so they too can become friends as they get older.

I have to say that I don't think I would go to a big GTG alone. I'm kind of a wimp like that.
I've been to smaller ones - and didn't have a problem with that...it's just the bigger ones I think that I would maybe feel awkward.

I admit I was soo nervous when I went to my first GTG (back on LIWs) many moons ago 
I am very shy until I get comfortable around people and even though I'd chatted with the people I met for awhile "online" I was so anxious about making a good impression in person 
That said... I had nothing to worry about. It was a wonderful GTG, we all felt like old friends who were just hanging out, and we had a blast.. ! (and are now best friends in real life as a result of that gtg!)
Since then , I've gone to many other GTGs and if I do go to any that have people I've never met, I do still get a bit of that nervous excitement going but quickly it fades and it's always a good time!

I haven't been to an LIF GTG.. I have been to a few LIW ones.. I am a little shy as well.. I am uncomfortable until I get to know the person and see them a few times..

I was too.
I'll admit I "studied" up on the people I was meeting before the first GTG so I knew I would have something to say to them.
And by studied, I mean I looked at recent posts to remind myself who was who.
I didn't stalk them or anything.

I went to my first one on LIW about 4 years ago & since then have made some wonderful friends I see often.
At first I was very nervous b/c I didn't know anyone & tend to be quite shy until I'm comfortable around you. Yet it was fine & everyone starts talking (back then about weddings & such & you just automatically jump in)...on here we obviously all have in common that we are mommies so there is always something to say. Don't stress, you'll have a good time!

My first GTG was actually a fundraiser for Janet. There were so many people there. I brought my sister with me. I was so nervous.
It turned out that people came up to me (MrsERod) was the very first and introduced themselves. Ended up having such a great time.
I've attended more after and always so nice to meet more and more people.

Well, my entire life, I've had to be in front of people that I didn't know... whether it was dancing, performing, or now presenting at conferences. I am so used to it, it doesn't faze me...

I am quite opposite most of the respones posted. I am overly friendly to everyone and aways enjoy having a good time. Maris can vouch for me. When I found out people lived in our development I was right on top of it. We now met blu-ize and I am soon to meet pumpkn. I love meeting new people and love for others to meet new people. I am always introducing and re-introducing. Makes me happy when people have a common bond
I understand the anxiety level but I am comfortable with it especially when it comes to dd.
Now ask me to do a speech....No thank you
