Spinoff of my neurologist's call-does this sound right?

The neurologist said that if the blood tests came back normal, then to wait a few months. After a few months they'd do more neurological tests. I asked if my weight gain had anything to do with it. (Thinking he wanted me to lose more pregnancy weight) He said no, nothing to do with it.

Why am I waiting? I have a baby and I can't walk well. Does this sound right that I should wait a few months? What the hell am I waiting for? Shall I be looking to make an appt elsewhere?!?!?! I do have a second neurologist I was originally seeing for my tumor.

Definitely wrong...why wait, will you miraculously get better? I think you should see someone else

I don't think something like that is something to wait on, I would get a second opinion

I would seek a second opinion. The 1st dr. may be right but he could have oversaw something too.

I do hope you feel better soon! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Having a sister with MS I will tell you absolutely do not wait.

They didn't know what was going on with her for a long time and I still feel like we lost ground on some treatment.

I understand MS is hard to officially diagnose, but it's best to keep ruling other things out.

Did they already do contrast MRIs to see if you have any plaque on the brain or spinal column?

That's the tell-tale MS signs.

Did they screen you for Lupus? They usually try to rule that out first.

Here is a website that "could" guide you with your symptoms. The internet can be so useful and sometimes very scary. Yet, I would like to be informed personally on what it "could" be.

Have you had an MRI since having these new symptoms?

I have had a lot of clients with MS and other neurological issues over the years. Several of them have seen and liked Dr. Gudesblatt

He was my original guy for the tumor!! I haven't seen him in over a year. Guess I'm calling him on Monday!

And I had my last brain MRI in August. That's when they noticed the tumor had grown, but nothing major. I don't think I've had an MRI of the spine. Chat Icon

I would most certainly go for a second, third or as many opinions I could to get to the bottom of it. Especially because it is affecting how you walk.

I hope you feel better very soon. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i'm thinking that your doc wants to wait to see if the symptoms resolve by themselves over the next few months, which would likely happen if these were effects of the spinal.

problem with that plan is, the symptoms would likely resolve within a few months if this was MS as well.

so waiting tells you absolutely nothing. and if it was MS you would want to start treatment ASAP.

i would suggest going to get another opinion.

I agree. Have you been checked for any sort of auto immune disorder? Like Rheumatoid arthritis? That might be something...GLChat Icon

I would go to another neurologist for a second opinion.

And, weight gain could have lots to do with your problems. I had a lot of swelling and numbness and after taking the pills they gave me and loosing 30 lbs, I'm doing much better. I still have more to loose, but it is a start.
