I just wanted to share that my Dr. recently recommended donating the cord blood instead of "storing" it.. aside from the obvious expense- the chance that your baby will be able to use its OWN blood is less than most private banks claim. The chance is greater for a parent or sibling.. but if it comes to it, and someone you love is in need for a bone marrow transplant or something major like this, there is a National registry, (just like when you donate regular blood) that it gets stored in to help anyone in need that matches your baby cord blood. There are some pretty interesting facts, and a bunch of articles attached to this link..

If you are taking the time to research what to do with your babys cord blood, ask your Dr. about donating it instead of storing it..
