Spin-off Where to stay in Myrtle Beach?

We stay at the Myrtle Beach Resort. It's great for kids. They have one indoor pool and five or six outdoor pools. thry have two kiddie pools and a lazy river. It's on the south end of Myrtle so its close to Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach and Murrrels Inlet as well as Myrtle Beach itself. I like the areas south a lot - great restaurants and a laid back give and less commercialized.

my parents own a condo in that complex (although they don't rent theirs out). they have outdoor pools, and i believe they also have a new indoor pool area for renters. It's near broadway at the beach, and maybe a 5 min drive to the actual beach.

We've only been once and exchanged through our timeshare. It's called South Beach Resort and as affiliated with Holiday Inn Vacation Club. I'm not sure the pricing, but it was a great resort. We had a very spacious two bedroom unit. The nice outdoor pool is heated and zero entry. They have a small (unheated) lazy river, and another indoor/outdoor pool. It's not on the beach, but it's right across the street and they have a private little beach club right there. We also liked that it was close to the airport, though that may be a downside for some people.

We have rented from Elliott Rentals (http://www.northmyrtlebeachtravel.com), they have different price ranges but I find them to be cheaper than paying for a hotel for the week.

We have also stayed at the Sands Resorts different hotels. I think the Ocean Dunes Resort has the most things for kids to do.

Spin-off Where to stay in Myrtle Beach?

I have stayed at south beach resort, nice pool set up.
we usually stay at Breakers-I enjoy the bar right off the main elevator and pool has a pirate ship
Last year we stayed at Grand Dunes Marriott. Perfect in every way excpt people will wrestle you down for a chair poolside. i just brought my own chair out everyday.
Off the beach-Sheraton is really nice near convention center
Barefoot landing condos, so so nice. pool on the boring side, but condos are gorgeous.
if you can get into ocean watch villas in grand dunes-hands down best kiddie pool in myrtle beach. ha...i only know because me and kids got kicked out real quick since we weren't staying there.
if you aren't beach people...stay at broadway at the beach. so much to do there. we stay close to there in off season.
dunes villiage is a huge indoor waterpark. i haven't stayed there...but anything with DUNES in it is going to be great. Stuffier crowd, but sometimes you need that in myrtle beach.
north beach plantation is where my friends stay. i think it is a little removed from everything...but they love it.
seacrest is older...i think they have redone rooms since we stayed there. i heard pool was kid friendly. hotel is in main area of myrtle which is either good or bad. i don't mind it...leo hates it.
a lot of drinking, but beach is fun...
i have stayed in a ton of smaller hotels...let me know if you are going to go that route.
(leo's company headquarters are in myrtle, so past 7 years we have spent a ton of time there)

Re: Spin-off Where to stay in Myrtle Beach?

My inlaws have a home in North Myrtle. I have been there many times. If I were to choose a place to stay I would either stay at Cherry Grove if you want a beach front or Sheraton Plantation if you want to be near all the attractions. I don't recommend staying in the hotels near the Myrtle Beach boardwalk because it is way too crowded, the areas nearby are sketchy. Good luck. If you have any questions, I am the expert. Lol. Been there a few times a year for the past 5 years.

I agree Cherry Grove is a very nice area if you are looking to stay on the beach. I have stayed their many times with family and with DH, we have our timeshare in Cherry Grove.
