Spin off to finding out closing date
How do you pay all the costs at closing?
Cash?
Bank check?
Also, is it one lump sum or diff't checks for diff't ppl?
After reading the post & responses on the short notice of closing date (and amount needed).
DH thinks he'll just walk in right from the bank with cash. (this is ALL new to us both but I've learned ALOT on here)

Re: Spin off to finding out closing date
You bring a bank check to closing (your attorney will give you instructions about all this and tell you how much). You also bring a checkbook to write checks for other incidentals (paying the title closer, or other adjustments, like paying the seller for oil left in the tank, etc.).

Re: Spin off to finding out closing date
It all depends on your lawyer. Our lawyer just gave us one lump amount to pay. We ended up bringing two checks only because we took $ from two banks. In the end, we paid more than we had to and got a check in the mail from our Lawyer giving us back what we didn't have to pay.

Re: Spin off to finding out closing date
BEFORE we closed our lawyer gave us a list of how much money went to whom and exactly how much the check should be for.
Personal check (payment/tip) to the title guy.
Personal check to the previous owners for association dues, furniture purchase, oil in tank.
BANK CHECK ONLY for down payment
BANK CHECK ONLY for Closing etc.
We had 2 bank checks for the big stuff.

Re: Spin off to finding out closing date
Thanks for the responses. Another part of the "Wait and See" game LOL
Ack! I don't mind writing the personal checks, but all our money is in savings accts (same bank as checking acct), so I have a feeling the second I step out of closing I'll be transfering money!

Just so you know, the personal checks should be for smaller items, so it usually amounts to hundreds, not thousands of dollars! Good luck.
