Re: Sorry if this has been asked

I knew I was going to have problems as I don't have a regular period. I believe a lot of the girls on here have the same scenario.
Anyway, I really didn't try naturally at all. When we decided to TTC I went straight to my OB and told him. He put me on a Provera/Clomid combo and we tried that for six months. Because of my age (39 at the time), after six months he sent me to an RE. Eight IUI's later I am still not PG and moving on to IVF.
Your age, weight and hormone's are going to dictate your personal decision.

Good luck!!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Sorry if this has been asked

I miscarried in April of last year. It took me 3 months to get AF again, and then after another 3 months of trying, nothing was happening. But, I was 39 by then, and am quite overweight. I never had irregular periods, but I just had a feeling that I should start looking into things. My first pregnancy (the mis) took me almost a year to get to.

Re: Sorry if this has been asked

I have been TTC for 11 months. I was on Clomid for 4 cycles and now I'm going to an RE to take it a step further. I just started at the RE a couple of weeks ago so I haven't done anything yet.

Re: Sorry if this has been asked

i sorta knew since i was getting my period irregularly. but always shrugged it off. you could say i was very much in denial. 1-2years ago, we sought out an endocrinologist after having trouble getting preg on our own. and that's how it was confirmed.

For me it took a year the first time because my periods are like clockwork but then we found out we had a slight MF problem but we got PG without assistance. This time I foolishly thought it would happen again, I went to the RE after about 9 months and found out the MF problem was much worse.

Re: Sorry if this has been asked

At 39, I went to my gyn for an annual checkup and told her that we had been trying for about 6 months. She told us to try for another 6 months and that we should probably see an RE if we were not pregnant by then. Now that I know more about infertility, I know that this additional 6 months of trying was a waste of time for some one older than 35. I should have seen an RE then.

Standard rule of thumb: see an RE after 6 months of trying if you are over 35. If you are under 35, see an RE after 12 months of trying. Of course, if you know there is something wrong, see one before then.

Good luck.

Re: Sorry if this has been asked

We have been trying about 15 months. We have had 2 m/c. After the 2nd we went to a specialist where I am waiting on results now.

After I miscarried, I was cautiously monitoring my cycles. It wasn't until 6mos-8 mos after that I knew I was going to have difficulty.

Re: Sorry if this has been asked

My cycles were never the same month to month and after about 10 months of trying we went to an RE.

Re: Sorry if this has been asked

We had a surprise baby in '02 then decided to TTC in '04. After 6 months of no luck, I went for blood work and found that I wasn't producing any progesterone. I was shocked. Then after a few rounds of clomid got pg then m/c at 14 weeks. I needed to wait awhile to try again and then found out I had the progesterone issue again. Did one round of clomid at 50 mgs and it Still didn't help. Then next month they bumped me to 100mgs.

Re: Sorry if this has been asked

After 8 months of trying and being over 35 we went for testing and found that we have male factor issues.
