Sorry for hiding - sensitive and confidential work situation

So I am aware of very confidential information regarding potential changes at my company that will likely cause me to be laid off.

It's not definite that the changes will happen, but I want to be proactive and start looking for a new job because if they do, my job will be eliminated. I have started sending out my Resume and thankfully have a response to something already.

Now, my current job is great - a solid, successful company and I am very well paid and I would never leave if this change was not happening. My question is, how do I explain why I am looking to change jobs without mentioning the real reason, which I cannot disclose to anyone?

I'm looking for a similar job with a similar salary, and I don't want any future employer to think I will be looking to leave them after another 5 years. Suggestions would be appreciated. ThanksChat Icon

I think you can be somewhat vague and just talk about corporate changes and a downturn in business. I don't think anyone really expects anymore.

Thank youChat Icon I guess I could just imply it is economy-related, which it probably is. This makes me feel better.

You can also say that there is no growth opportunity.

you can be honest and say that there are changes happening in the firm and you wanted to be proactive.
