Sophie the Giraffe Teether - No protective covering, Am I overreacting?

I know that a few of you have Sophie the Giraffe teether. I ordered and received mine from diapers.com today. It came in a box, but it wasn't wrapped in any type of protective covering. Like, I could just open the box, take out the giraffe, and put it back in without having the box look any different.

Since this is a teether, going into DD mouth, do you think this is a problem? I am kinda paranoid about this kind of stuff. The box specifically says do not sterilize.

Did any of your Sophie the Giraffe teethers come in protective covering?

I have no idea what it is .. but, I would run it under hot soapy water and use it. But, I am pretty relaxed about that kind of stuff.

Mine came in a box (not like a brown shipping box, but packaging specifically for Sophie if thats what you mean) I see no problem with washing it with soap and water, many toys that kids put in their mouth come with no protective packaging.

Mine came in a box too, same thing you described and I did think, hmm, what if this was used?

I washed it in soapy water (dont submerge it) and i held my finger over the squeaker part so water would not get in it.

I just washed it. I wash all toys before giving to them.
