Someone is STEALING from my office! LONG, SORRY!

I have my own office now, and I am also in charge of marketing. Every month, the Marketing team puts together a promotion for the following month, for us to deliver to some of our clients. The company does not gave us a credit card, we (I) expense everything...and get reimbursed.

Well, with the promotion we are working on, we purchased a case of poland spring water...24 bottles. Well, I used 20 of the bottles to put company labels on for part of the promotions...the other 4 bottles were in the box still.

I come in this morning, and there is only 3 bottles left!Chat Icon Did you think I would not notice?Chat Icon Chat Icon When my co-wrker went to lunch, I looked in her office, and there is the bottle. Next to it, is some of the candy we also have for said promotion...

THis is not the first time she has done this--for our March promotion, she went into my office (this all happens before I come in b/c she leaves earlier than all of us and comes in earlier) and took 3 promotional items---did not ever mention having them, and did not go on any visits to distribute them like we have been doing.

My door has no lock--we are a small office of 7 people total, but now I am getting so pizzed off--I am paying money out of MY POCKET for these items & she just feels as if she can take them? Chat Icon Chat Icon

I will see what tomorrow brings. Do I approach her? Send an email to the whole staff so its not just pointing at one person? She is not some child--she is a 42 year old woman---
THis is an awkward position to be inChat Icon

I do sound petty that its about a bottle of water, but this is the 3rd time I found that this person has taken stuff without asking. Everything that is purchased is in quantities and used accordingly. Plus, we have a water cooler in the office as it isChat Icon

She did the same thing with Holiday cards--we purchased them to be signed by the whole staff, and she took 1 whole box one morning & by the time we came in, she had them all addressed, said she signed the companies name...

We took a look at one (opened it) and it was from HER--HER ONLY. All 25 of them--were signed by Her...Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would send an email to the whole office - just say you noticed on numerous occasions promotional items missing from your office and please do not take them in the future!
Could you get a file cabinet with a lock for things like this? Right now my office door lock is broken, so I lock any valuables inmy file cabinet.

Well, our boss tossed ALL of our filing cabinets because we are "paperless"!Chat Icon

But I do have a small one, and one of my desk drawers locks, so that is what I will do.

I have made a "sign out sheet" for the larger items. (for example, for May, we are bringing hanging baskets to some clients) I would DEFINITELY notice if some larger items were missing, but still...

i HATE people like this!!!! It was always an issue for me in my old office. I was also in charge of a department where we did a lot of events, and always had about 1000 tshirts in inventory. So, of course I wouldn't notice when one or two are missing but when I see you wearing them don't you think I know you took them!!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Definitely send out an email to the whole team.
