Softer line dried clothes?

Will liquid fabric softener make THAT much of a difference?

I am trying to save $$ and not use my dryer as much So I am hanging some out and my towels are sooooooo scratchy I could exfoliate with them if I lost my loofa. Any ideas?

I think fabric softener will help a little. This made me laugh a little, I remember going to my Grandma's as as kid and scratching my face on her towels..she would only dry her clothes on the line out back. Aww, I miss her!

Softener night help with the clothes but don't use it on the towels. Softener is no good for your towels - it makes them loose their absorbency.

You can also try putting them in the dryer for 10 minutes or so after they have been outside, it helps to soften them a little bit.

I read this somewhere too. The softener coats the fabric with a plastic-y like substance and makes them less absorbent.

I don't have a dryer, so I do mine outside and I feel the same way...I don't think there's anyway to replicate hwo they feel when they come out of the dryer Chat Icon

I found liquid fabric softener was leaving stains on my clothes. I even stopped dryer sheets, but I think I have to go back to that.

I would still put towels & jeans in the dryer, b/c they come out the crunchiest & line dry other things.

Re: Softer line dried clothes?

Do you snap the clothes before hanging them? My grandma used to do that, give them a good shake and kind of a snap..who knows, maybe that helps? Also, she never liked to line dry them if it was super hot sunny.
