is Let's Rock Elmo in that group?
I want to know if i should even bother trying to get myself to spend that much.
but we got the toys r us big book this weekend and my son was saying "quite (kee-tay" which means "take it off" to all the stuff he likes...lol He thought I could just pull it off the page and into his hands... if only. anyway, since he showing interest in certain things I want to try to get it for him.

Let's Rock Elmo will def be one of those hard to find toys. So will the accessories that go with him.
I want to get it for DS but I really don't want to spend that much, espicially when I know it will be marked down or sold used on CL for less.
I got Dance star mickey from CL for 10 bucks this summer. Brand new w.o. the box. Total score.

Which is why my husband picked it up a couple of months ago, along with the accessories for the grandparents to give to DS.
My DS is obsessed with the one on display in Target. The minute we pull up to the store, he starts chanting "Elmo, Elmo, Elmo"

yup i belive elmo will be a big one, I just picked it up for DD but im giving it to her for her bday tomorrow.

I have seen that Elmo everywhere. I feel like DS would play with that a few times and then it would be forgotten.

Grandma bought Lets Rock Elmo for DD for her birthday yesterday. Toys R Us has it with the guitar and since she spent $100 total she got $10 off with the coupon, so it totalled $59 or something like that. It went down in price at costco to $53 but doesn't come with the guitar. DD LOVES it! OH, and if you can hold out, I bet it goes on sale for Black Friday!

Yeah, I'm DS' Dance Star Mickey and Rockin Elmo!  
Everyone I know who has one of those... it's in the bottom of the toy box or on a shelf.
Any toy that becomes a craze is usually one that is no where near my list.

We have the elmo from 2 years ago and the mickey from last year and they are never played with. I will say that when DS received that elmo for hanukkah he was two and the look on his face/emotions were priceless. He was literally shaking with glee and saying elmo elmo elmo. It was love at first sight. However, he was not strong enough to squeeze the nose so it got old fast. We are not getting the new elmo.

I think Let's Rock Elmo is definitely going ot be one of those toys. The prices have started to really go up in some stores. However, i just bought mine from Target online 3 weeks ago and now TRU has it for $59.99 WITH the guitar! I'm hopefully going ot get it at TRU this weekend and return the one from target.

yeah, for $60 I am not getting it for him.
he likes Elmo but he has a tickle me one from last christmas and only plays with it occasionally.
I am going to stick with my original "don't drink the cool-aid" plans.
but do we know what OTHER toys will be marketed this way? any guesses?

ITA with this! Those $60 Elmo/Mickey/whatevers get tossed aside as soon as the novelty wears off. Better off getting something they can play with again and again.
Last year the absolute best present was my parents' big gift to my DS-- a set of Magnatiles. They were $100 on Amazon but sooo worth it. Almost a year later and my 5 1/2 yr old DS plays with them all the time, my 2 1/2 yr old DD can play with them somewhat too, and they've been a huge hit with any friends DS has invited over.

Exactly. And I actually bought Dance Star Mickey last year . But it was more about the thrill of the chase for me. Once I got him, I didn't really want him anymore

Elmos and Mickeys for sure..those are always hot items.
i think that leap pad thing is going to be big too..im seeing it in all the flyers.

DS did the same thing with the toy book! He was putting his thumb and pointer on the toys he wanted and was trying to pull them out of the book.  My heart melted...then he got pizzed when he realized they werent coming off the page.
Pretty sure the Leappad is gonna be a big hype this season.
