I would take the day, I kno u hate the new job you got, and u r most likely moving anyway, I would just take the day and screw it :)

On Thursday have DH call you (in the later afternoon) tell your boss that you have to leave immediately because a close family member (pick one) is in the ER. She can't say no to that! Then leave her a voice mail very early friday morning that you spent all night in the hospital, things don't look good and you aren't coming in.
I know its bad to lie about someone you love being sick but I'm not superstitious and I don't think that it would MAKE the person sick. She sounds like my old crazy boss. Then, monday morning come in with a very well prepared lie about the person being released sunday morning and they are okay but it was really scary etc....

I would call in sick - since she is such a horrible person - just screw it! If she fires you over calling in sick one day its her loss.
