Should i put up a fake tree instead of real this year now i hav a little one???
we have always done real and i really hope this is not an unrealistic choice now.
are there any mommies that still put up a real tree and if so what can i do to ensure my son wont get hurt with it??
he will be turning 1 just after cristmas on the 29th dec. but we normally put it up the 1st week in dec a whole month before he turns 1 .

i just thought maybe the needles could be an issue??
being put in his mouth and going in his skin when crawling??

I was thinking the same thing, but DH will NOT allow a fake tree in his house.
I always had a fake tree growing up so I don't care one way or the other. Less maintenance!!
BUT we will be getting a real one. I will delay getting it this year because she's still so little. The less time it's up, the less trouble she can get into.

I'm guessing that you just have to be diligent about vaccuming around the tree.
I also saw that you said you put it up the first week in December, maybe you want to wait so the tree doesn't die.

Go for it but just vacuum more often and how about keeping a gate around the tree?

if you have a play yard put it around the tree that is what we are going to do dd will be 1 on x-mas eve and she is so touchy and courious I know she will pull on it

Go for it but just vacuum more often and how about keeping a gate around the tree?
i agree...a gate or maybe you can block off the tree with presents??
and yes, vacuum a lot!

im sticking to my real tree ladies and i will just be on top of him and the needles 
lets hope this isnt a decision that is going to make me nuts

We never changed the way we do Christmas when DS came along.
Real tree, no gate, no problems! 
ETA: I would say if can, cut your own tree... much less needle loss!
