Should I call the ped if my DS is having a "typical" reaction to antibiotics? TMI warning...

My DS is on Amoxicillan (sp?) for an ear infection - he started taking it yesterday and today he has diarrhea - this is listed as a possible side effect on the bottle and when I asked the ped about possible reactions she said this was one - anyway, I'm thinking then its just is what it is and I shouldn't worry or call the ped but, as a first time mommy - I'm unsure? TIA Chat Icon DS is 10 mo

My DS is on it too. We started it early last week for an ear infection and yes, he's had loose stools all weekChat Icon

I've been trying to give him some banana every day and it's helped a bit.

I don't think it warrents a call, but that's just me. I never call Chat Icon

Try giving banannas, rice, apples, NO juice and no dairy (if DC is old enough to be off formula). Chat Icon

I did go out and buy bananas today for this reason. Glad to hear it helps. I hope he feels better soon! This is my first antibiotics and I am not liking it! Chat Icon
