share your tips of success (weight loss related)

I have about 30 lbs to lose and I am getting frustrated! I am on WW and for some reason can't find the motivation to stick to the program. I snack all day (SAHM) and then at night when I go to bed am extremely depressed about it. I say tomorrow is a new day, but then find myself doing the exact same thing.
Please share with me any tips! Thanks in advance

Keep junk out of the house. You cant

eat whats not there. Its hard, raising

kids and taking care of youself. Your

tired and give in.. I know I've done it.

Get into a work out routine, join a gym

walk outside w/your kid(s). Go to the

playground. Plan out your meals so you

know what ti expect. Lean meats, lots

of veggies and salad and fruit.

Check out some websites that have

healthy recipes and tips like Eat Better

America. com .. Good luck!!

Re: share your tips of success (weight loss related)

Weigh yourself once a week..same time.

Write down EVERYTHING you eat.

If you make one mistake, that doesn't mean the whole day is ruined, just go on eating healthy.

Plan your day ahead of time so you know what you're eating.

Let yourself cheat once in awhile- you shouldnt deprive yourself if you're craving something.

Bring your workout clothes with you when you go to work, go out etc, so you have no excuses.

Sparkpeople.com has some great tips

Try Weight watchers

Track everything, weigh and measure everything and be honest about it!

Weigh yourself at the same time of day each time

One cheat meal per week!

Be patient with yourself too!

Also for me, I can't keep trigger foods in the house at all!

it's not how many times you fall off, it's the times that you get back on.

-work out
-drink fat free milk
-lots of water
-limit the sweets and carbs

I am not a diet person, I have never been on a diet and never will. I lost a bunch of weight recently by eliminating processed foods and sugar. I do also workout 6 days a week, so changing my diet made a big difference. Make sure you set realistic expectations or you will constantly be frustrated and feeling like you fell off the wagon. If you eat more calories one day, just make sure its coming from whole, natural sources like fruit, nuts etc. Also incorporated some kind of activity will help to. Doesn't have to be a "workout", but something that gets your heart beating faster than it does when you are sitting on the couch.

Good Luck!

Thanks everyone! I think I am going to clean my kitchen out this weekend.
I don't really have anything bad but I do have about a 10 different kinds of 100 calorie packs! Problem is I eat about 3 or 4 after each meal! So in the garbage they go!!!

Get rid of everything fat free, 100 calorie, etc .........it gives you a false idea that you can just eat KWIM?

You have to psyche yourself into portion control -
I love Hagen Daz ...........LOVE it. I'd rather eat ONE Tablespoon of real full fat hagen daz than 4 100 calorie packs .....KWIM?

Re: share your tips of success (weight loss related)

I could have written your post word for word! I have more than 30lbs to lose!
I started last week.

First step I did was:

1. As tempting as it is, I didn't bring junk into the house.

2. We have the Wii. I was doing GREAT with it. Got pregnant with DD gained the weight back and the Wii has been just sitting there.
I FINALLY got back on yesterday, with a Biggest Loser routine.
Today, I did a Wii Fit routine.
20 mins. each day. Not much, but, I need to start slow.

3. Instead of a bowl of ice cream after dinner, I grab either a granola bar or a 100 calorie pack (I have a BAD sweet tooth).
During the day I have fruit and/or a wedge of Laughing Cow Cheese for snack.

I started my "own program" of being careful and cutting down last Wed.
Weighed in yesterday (with no excercise the week prior) and am down 2lbs! I am very happy!
Now that Ive added the exercise maybe I'll see more next week...we'll see.

You CAN do it!! I AM that SAHM thats on the go and grabs whatever the heck in reach. Im trying to change that!

Good Luck to you!

ETA: I also cut out Diet soda and switched it up with water & seltzer.
Also treat myself to a Crystal Light On The Go packet once a day! Chat Icon
When the weather gets warmer, I WILL be out walking. Bought a jogging stroller like 3 weeks ago and used it ONCE! This weather is killin' me!

Re: share your tips of success (weight loss related)

I am so there with you.

WW works for me when I can REALLY stick with it. Which is about 2 days then I get caught up in "life" and fall off the wagon.

I eat Special K for breakfast every morning. I even measure out my serving.

I eat at least 1 special k bar for a snack at some point in the day.

I have replaced lunch with a Green Giant boxed vegetable. My favorite is the healthy weight.

And dinner I eat whatever I make for the family, but I usually cut my portion in half.

We have zero junk food in the house. At night, when DH comes home and eats dinner (he gets home around 9pm) I find myself wanting to munch. I bought these Breyers Fruit Bars that are only 40 calories per bar and are DELICIOUS. So I eat one. Here is a pic:

And, lastly I have been hitting the gym 4 times a week. Mostly do elliptical for 40 minutes. When I started 6 weeks ago it was all I could do to get 10 minutes on there.

So far, I am down 11 pounds. I still have like 40 to go but I am happy with my progress.

I change my "diet" weekly so my body doesn't get too used to it. So next week for lunch I will have a small serving of grilled chicken instead of veggies. Then the week after go back to veggies, KWIM?

EtA - I have 1 cup of coffee in the morning to get me going. And then I will only drink water the rest of the day. I am also going to try drinking 1 cup of green tea at night after Ryan goes to bed. I have heard green tea aides in weight loss, but I do not have any personal experience yet. No soda for me.

I agree with this (except I'm a chronic dieter but trying not do be anymore). I am working on cutting out processed things, eating more organic, whole foods and I work out 6 days a week. Spin, bodycombat and weight training. I am not losing weight like crazy but I am noticing big changes in my body.
