Did you ask them if they have aa free session? When Joseph was born, they were giving free sessions for babies under 6 months.

You can get lessons for free from 2-6 months you just have to leave a refundable deposit of I think 50.00.. Ryan would be in with his own instructor and you would be able to go in with him after the lesson is over if you wanted...

Re: safety swim..

Safety Swim is awesom. Both kids have been taking lessons (Emma 14months, Jeremy 3 months) and Emma 3 1/2 could save herself if she fell in and no one was around to get to her. Totally worth it IMO!

Re: safety swim..

Yea I know he could go for free...but I would watch from behind the window..and Im just not comfortable with that yet...

Plus i really wanted something we could do together...

Maybe in the next 3 months...I switch to "Lessons" but for now, I want to be the only one handling my son in a pool of water...

I actually know the owners of the one in coram...

Yes, Riverhead is nice, newer but there are some things I would change! The dressing rooms are not heated like the pool area is and its FREEZING once you go out of the pool. The one in Coram has a glass door which keeps the dressing room area about 5-10 degrees warmer than the viewing room.

Re: safety swim..

I enjoyed safety swim but Amber's instructor quit two weeks before the sessions ended and they were not very accomodating in terms of make up classes. They were actually pretty shady about the whole thing and at the cost of the lessons, it sort of left a bad taste in my mouth for the place. But a great program and concept and it really helped to make Amber more comfortable with the water.

Re: safety swim..

Well, I was SO into it, but I just spoke w/ my pedi and he was definitely not happy with the idea. Not so much because of the chlorine, but a) he's still susseptible (sp??) to germs @ 3 months and b) it's not wise to have him in the cold, into the heated pool, back into the cold. He suggested starting it more around 6 months. I think for now I'm going to try playing in the tub with him like Marissa suggestedChat Icon

We're waiting for 6 months for swimming as well. I am planning on starting music classes with Miranda.
