Repost from Recipe board: Lipton Soup Mix Meatloaf

I'm reposting here b/c there's more traffic here. Thanks.

I want to make the Lipton soup mix meatloaf tonight. The recipe says to shape into a loaf and bake in a 9X13 roasting pan. Does anyone know if I can just put it all in a loaf pan and bake for the same amount of time?

I also wanted to put some ketchup on the top. Should I do that from the beginning or more toward the end?

It's my first meatloaf.

I made this recipe last night, it is awesome! Chat Icon

and of course you can use a loaf pan, that is all I ever use.

I only put ketchup in the mixture like the directions say.

You should be able to use the loaf pan and cook for the same amount of time. I would put the ketchup on close to the end of the cook time.

I'm thinking that maybe they tell you to use the roasting pan b/c it has the space in it for the fat to drain out (if I'm thinking of the right thing). If you're using a lean meat anyway, I'm sure it will be delicious, as the above poster said! Enjoy Chat Icon Going to have to steal this recipe!

You can put the ketchup on the top toward the end if you want a little extra...that is what we do! It is so yummy!
Just a suggestion--we only use about 3/4 of the package...it can get a little too salty if you use the entire package--IMO.

very true. I do the same when I make onion dip. 1 package of the soup mix is too much.

I add a little brown sugar to my ketchup... makes it a little sweeter but it sure is tastey!

I use BBQ sauce instead of ketchup and add in brown sugar and a little bit of cumin and put that mixture on when it has about 20 minutes left to cook.

YUM!
