I say Yay!! What's the problem with a red dress??? Now if the bridesmaids were in red, maybe I would think twice, but other than that why not?? At least it's not white...I can't stand that!

my cousin wore a gorgeous strapless red dress with a humungous slit up the middle to my wedding. She looked like a million bucks and I loved that dress.
I hope one day to fit into it so I can borrow it.

I got married 3 years ago, out of 50 women or so that attneded my wedding 4 wore red, and they looked great.
I don't care what color the dress is, if it looks good, wears well, and you love it, wear it.

In Eastern European culture it is considered in very bad taste to wear red to a wedding. So, unless bride or groom is from Eastern Europe, I say you are fine, although of course, I personally wouldn't do it (see first sentence )

In the Indian culture, the bride traditionally wears red. If no one is Indian- I say go for it. I have a red dress I wore to a bunch of weddings- and I loved it!

really? i'm eastern european (as is DH) and neither of us has ever heard that.

really? i'm eastern european (as is DH) and neither of us has ever heard that.
DH is eastern European and 2 of his relatives wore red to our wedding.

I'm Italian and in OLD SCHOOL Italian culture - only the mistress wears red to the wedding. . . not something that is followed today BUT I still can't bring myself to wear red to a wedding b/c I am really just an little old italian lady at heart.

Me too- I am in the minority but whenever I see someone in a red dress at a wedding, I think of Moonstruck (even though she's talking about a funeral)

I wouldn't be bothered by the color but I will say I wouldn't wear something too "flashy" or provocative to a wedding. I wouldn't wear anything that looks like I'm trying to take attention from the bride, but that's just me.
