I am married to Diana's older sister and we are writing this from Rio de Janeiro; but we did talk to Diana on the phone two days ago after the worst of the Hurricane had passed. Their home happened to be on the Western outer band of the hurricane; so they came through relatively unscathed. The wind tore off part of the roof of the restaurant and they are out of electricity. Luckily, there was no flooding. We have not heard from them in two days, only, because phone service to the area is out of commission; but we are sure they are OK. Life will be a bit primitive for awhile as electricity to the area is second priority to New Orleans - don't expect it to be restored until Sept 10th; but they know how to live out in the wilds.
Thanks for your concern. I'll print your message and pass it on to Diana when we see her in about 10 days.

I just received a reply back from Zams' Tours:
Diana, ZZ, and Diego came thru Hurricane Katrina OK. We talked to them on the phone soon after the Hurricane has passed. Luckily, they were on the outer Western band of the hurricane - bit of wind damage on the restaurant roof. Biggest inconvenience is loss of electricity, which will not likely be restored until Sept 10. (Officials say New Orleans has priority) Also, phone service went out two days ago.
This was from a relative. Thank God.

I actually thought about them too. I had seen that episode and so much of it was focused around their life on the bayou and all of the water surrounding them, it crossed my mind.
