Re: Thoughts on this? Minors drinking O'Douls?
I don't have a problem with it - but I'm not there yet. My mind might change as my kids get older.
Personally, I think Americans in general are way too uptight when it comes to alcohol. I don't see the difference between allowing a teen to have an O'Douls or allowing a teen to have a tiny glass of beer, supervised, at a family party.

Beer doesn't really taste good unless you have acquired the taste for it, kwim?
This I don't agree with... some people, myself included, actually like the taste of beer and didn't need to acquire a taste for it.

I am in the minority in this but I really do not see it as a big deal. Drinking has never been a big deal in my family and as teenagers we were allowed to indulge in the occasional drink at family events.
When I went away to college, drinking just was not a big deal to me because it had never been taboo in my family. I really never drank as much as my other peers in college did (specifically those who were never allowed to drink). In MY experience (obviously the sample size is limited to people I know or have known) the kids who were never allowed to touch alcohol before college got drunk FAR more that those kids whose parents never made a big deal out of drinking.
For me, I rather teach my kids about responsible drinking while they are at home then have them learn about drinking from their friends while they are away at college.
Same. I was always allowed to have a drink with my family, probably from about 16yrs and on. But, my parents would never allow my friends to drink.
