Questions for BTDT NYC moms or past NYC moms

Thanks in advance for your help ladies! Sorry so long!

I live in NYC and until the baby is 3 mos old we will be living in a 1 br. I'm just starting to think about registering and have soo many questions.

First question - for those that live/lived in a 1br - where did you keep the baby during that first 3 months - in your room or in the living/dining area? My room could fit a crib fine but it is not very big at all. That leads to mmy second question - should I use a crib during this time at all? Would it be better to get a bassinett with wheels so I can keep it in either room? How long can you use a bassinnet for? Third question - did you use a changing table? Where did you keep it?

Next question - can you reccommend your stroller (we are thinking bugaboo but don't know which one to get or why). And, finally, any other help/advice you could offer would be great! TIA Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

We moved into our house when DS was 3 1/2 months old, until then he was in the bassinett in our room (I think it was a waste), we switched him out into the pack n play and it worked out great! We had the bassinett part in the pack n play and the changing table attached too, we used this for everything! HTH

We live in Brooklyn.

Stroller - Bugaboo. A must-have for city dwellers. It's the only one that can handle the crappy sidewalks! We tried to resist getting that stroller but after seeing the demo we were hooked!

Sleeping - Get yourself an Arm's Reach Co-sleeper. We got the mini one. Seriously its the greatest thing!!! We never attached it to the bed, we just used it like a basinette. The mini one has wheels so you can bring it in your LR or BR. DS sleeps in our room at night and we wheel it in the LR for the day. It has STORAGE underneath it!! Perfect for extra bedding, towels, etc. It also folds up tiny so its great to bring for travel. I am a HUGE FAN!! Definitely a great choice for apartment living.

Changing table - we use a changing pad and attached it to the top of a piece of furniture we already had. if you are short on space you can also get a travel changing pad and use your bed or the floor and just put all the "supplies" in a caddy.

Positive tests - which bugaboo model did you get and why? I see there are a few different models and I'm curious in practice which people find better...TIA Chat Icon

I agree (although I don't live in NYC I do live in an urban environment)

Bugaboo is a must if you walk a lot, I have a frog.

Mini Co-sleeper is alsy a must, its really small and we used it until Noah was like 5 months....we will use it with the next baby also.

We have the Cameleon. We have the Graco adaptor for the carseat so it sits on the Bugaboo base, and DS is in that. I haven't really used the bassinette, but he's too small yet for the real Bugaboo seat.

Re: Questions for BTDT NYC moms or past NYC moms

We have a 2BR, so DS has his own room, but we still kept him in our room in a bassinet for the first 3 months. Regarding strollers, I agree that the Bugaboo (we have and like the Frog) is the way to go. Another advantage is that you can use the bassinet attachment as a bassinet for overnight sleep (instead of buying one separately). Our changing table was always in DS's room, so can't help you there. Good luck!
