Question re: colds and vaccines

DS has his 4 month appointment soon. Hopefully he'll be better by then, but he has a stuffy nose and a pretty bad cough. The only reaction he had to the 2 month vaccines was that he was sleepy for most of the day.

Would you give your DC vaccines if he or she had a cold? Why or why not?

Re: Question re: colds and vaccines

No never....Its not the vaccine itself, there are ingredients in vaccines that can lower an immune system and I dont take any chances.

To me it can always be re-scheduled a few weeks later.

Re: Question re: colds and vaccines

No. Let their immune system work on the "cold", instead of making it work on a cold and a vaccine.

Wait till the cold is over, IMO and most drs do this as well. Chat Icon

Re: Question re: colds and vaccines

I would wait until the cold is over ~ My Pediatrician does not give vaccines if DS has a cold/sick.

My doctor won't give vaccines when DD is sick. We went in for her 6 month appt and she was sick. The Dr. did the 6 month well visit check up then I went back the next week and the nurse gave the vaccines.

Re: Question re: colds and vaccines

Nope, we wait until DD is perfectly healthy before any vaccines. No sense doing it when her body's not 100%, IMO.

ITA. Not to mention that the immune system should be functioning only to fight the vaccine...KWIM?
