Question for moms who send frozen breast milk to child care provider?

I've been freezing my bm for a month now and when I go back to work DS will be in childcare.

Does your child care provider thaw out only one bag at a time, or will they thaw out more than one if your baby is still hungry. I was just wondering because I know DS will eat 4.5 to 5 oz at any given feeding and I've been freezing 3-4 oz bags at a time.

Did I even ask the question right??? I'm still wondering how this freezing/thawing thing works.

Also, how long can you refrigerate the thawed out milk?

Can't help you w/ the daycare part, but thawed milk can be refrigerated for 24 hours. I would send in a note/tell them he may still be hungry after a 3oz bottle.

I defrost out about 3 bags the night before. I put them in the fridge the night before, b/c I know definately know she will drink that. You're suppose to defrost them slowly....but if not she puts the bag under running warm water to defrost faster. I would also bring her some extras to put in her freezer
Once its defrosted its only good for 24hrs.

With my older daughter I would always thaw the bottles overnight and prepare the bottles myself in the morning. My Mom was watching her but I still didn't trust her to do it right. Thawed milk is good for 24 hrs.

I'm glad I asked. It never even occured to me to prepare the bottles myself.

Thanks!!!
