question for EBF moms of 7ish month olds re: solids

How many times a day is your 6/7/8 month old nursing vs. how many meals they are eating? Kieran started oatmeal at 4 months, and fruits/veggies at 6 months. Before all that, he used to have 5 nursings a day, and go to bed about 10:30 and sleep till 7:30 when I woke him up to go to daycare. Around 5.5 months, he phased out the last nursing and started going to bed around 9. Since starting fruits and veggies, he seems to have little or no interest in his 2nd nursing of the day (unfortunately, I have no choice but to nurse him 3 hours after his first nursing because of my work schedule). He eats 3 meals a day, 2 of which are mixed with oatmeal. I guess what I'm asking is, would it be normal for him to do 3 nursings and 3 meals? Or does this seem like not enough? What are everyone else's little ones doing?

Re: question for EBF moms of 7ish month olds re: solids

My DD will be 7 mos in a week. However, she didn't start solids until 6 mos, so only 3 wks ago so her solids schedule probably isn't as much as your DC's. Also, she is and has been for a while now a VERY light eater Chat Icon

That said, she was nursing 5 X per day b/f solids. Ped said this would probably naturally go down to 4X per day once she started solids - this did happen pretty much immediately. She eats twice a day and nurses 4 times. I think next wk (at 7 mos) she moves up to eating 3 times per day. So, anyway now, she nurses when she wakes up and then has 2 tbsp of cereal and 2 oz of fruit or veggie 2 hrs later and then 2 hrs after that she nurses again. Then, 4 hrs later she nurses again and then 2 hrs later eats again 2tsp of cereal and 2 oz of fruit or veggie and then 2-3 hrs later nurses again and goes to sleep.

HTH!

Re: question for EBF moms of 7ish month olds re: solids

DD made 7months last week and eats baby food 2x/day late morning and evening.(I've been skipping the cereal lately because it seems to make her constipated so I do fruit in the am, veggies in the pm) To tell you the truth I don't keep track of how often she eats but sometimes I feel like it's all the time!! She's been teething pretty bad lately and I've gotten into the bad habit of nursing her for comfort when the paci doesn't cut it just cause it seems to work so well. She wakes around 7:30-8ish and nurses on average about every 3 hours until she goes to bed around 8-9pm. Sometimes she'll wake up once or twice to nurse sometimes she'll sleep the night.

ETA: I also didn't start solids until 6mths so we're still in the trying out different flavors to see what she likes stage. (so far she likes everything! Chat Icon )
