Question about Star
I applied for the star exemption in January when it was due in Nassau. I have not heard anything. How would I find out whether I qualified? Is it for the 2006 taxes?

If I remember correctly I don't think they notify you. I think I called and found out.

If you own an home and it is your primary residence you are automatically eligible for basic star if you get your application in on time- they will not notify you. If you want to see what your reduction is, call your tax receivers office and ask them to send you a copy of your tax bill.

when we signed up for star, we got a recepit knowing they got it...so i hope there shouldn't be any problems with it. in fact, we were missing something and we had to verify address and such

I think I read on the website that they only call you if you were not approved.
