question about planning on having 2 under 2

Dh and i have pretty much decided to try for number 2 soon. With any luck they will be about 21-24 months apart, somewhere in that range. Recently i see all these posts about how upsetting the first birthday can be b/c that menas time is just flying. For those who have two under two do you feel like you are going through the baby stage for both of them so fast that you will miss it. For example my silhas her kids 3 1/2 years apart so just whenteholder oen was getting to be really independent goignt o nursury school starting dance class she had another baby. Now her brother and sil have their kids 22 months apart so they kinda were completly out of the baby stage with in two years. Do you kwim? Thoughts? Opinions? BTW we are only plannign on two.

I don't feel like I'm going through the baby stage any faster. Sometimes it feels like it's neverending, I've been doing bottles and diapers every day for the past 25+ months straight. I'm actually thrilled that the end is in sight.

But I'm not one of those moms who gets sad at milestones, I get really excited about them. My DH on the other hand gets a little sad when they hit milestones. Everyone is different. You have to do what feels right for your family.

thanks for your feedback. i am not really the type to get sad either at least not yet.And my dh had a point he is like dont you want to get out of that stage and the nhave kids who are clsoe in age and you can do fun stuff with them like disney and things lke that and you dont have to worry about one being in a carriage and one running around. they will both be running and able to enjoy themselves.

Mine are exactly 2 years apart. I thought that this past year, Lauren's first year, went by sooo fast! We are getting ready to celebrate her 1st and Andrew's 3rd.

I enjoyed it. I liked having them close together, I feel as though it made it easier in a sense to keep on going in the baby stage. At first I felt guilty that Andrew was going to miss out on all the attention, but it worked and he got more attention that I could have imagined.

Although, if we try for a 3rd now, they will be 3 years apart! I am getting older and need a little break, LOL! Chat Icon

Re: question about planning on having 2 under 2

my 2 will be 21 months apart - i do feel like i will get through the baby stage fast - but that doesn't mean we may not want to try for a third child down the line.......

Im excited about having the two close together though - sharing the same interests - having the 2 in school almost at the same time etc.....

I love the fact that Ill be a young mom too - my kids will be grown and hopefully ill still have my youth - unless they drive me totally insane Chat Icon just kidding.

I just feel blessed to be able to have them so close together and have the energy and patience to hopefully deal with it all...

Re: question about planning on having 2 under 2

I am really excited about having them so close together.

I too am not the type of mom that gets sad when milestones hit, I get really excited for them!!

DD and #2 will be 14 months apart, and I am been pg and bf'ing for 2 years when that happens. I can't wait to be done, can't wait to be out of the baby stage, but at the same time, I don't want to rush a thing. Mostly I just want to be "non growing/feeding a baby" for more than 1 and 1/2 months!

I am enjoying every minute of Gianna and will enjoy every minute of seeing gianna with her little sister and her little sister grow.

I feel the same way...our two will be 17 1/2 months apart when DS will be born and I cannot wait to get the baby stages over with and get them both sleeping well through the night, to a point where a sitter can watch them for an evening, etc.

I LOVE when she hits a milestone. Right now we're working on walking independently and even though I cry every time I see her take some steps....I am overjoyed and how amazing it is to watch her develop and turn into a "perspn" instead of the little lump she was 15 months ago!!!

I'm the same way in terms of being excited for milestones versus lamenting them getting older. It may be because every stage becomes my favorite stage as they're going through it.

My children are 22 months apart. For me it's watching them grow up together & going through similar situations so close together. We understand Maddie much more because Joseph went through the stage the year before.

Re: question about planning on having 2 under 2

thanks girls for your input and opinions. i can see both sides but it looks like we are heavily leaning towards trying soon and seeing what happens and taking it from there. I see how close my dh and his bro are and they are 21 months apart. I also see how my sister and i are not particularly close at 6 yeras apart but i thnk that has to do with us having different personalities. I guess you could have two kids close in age and if they dont get along they dont get along. I guess you could have kids far apart and stil lhave them be close so who knows. LOL

Re: question about planning on having 2 under 2

I have mixed feelings (but obviously its too late to turn backChat Icon ) My children will be 19-20 months apart. I am so glad (now-I did want a girl so that I could be "done") that my second is a boy as well, I hope they will be close. I feel like my son is already out of the baby stage, he is becoming so independent that I feel there is a good separation between the two children. I am a little sad because I hear other mother's say that it was hard to imagine loving another child as much as your first. I am having such a GREAT time with logan at this age (15 months) that I feel like I will miss time with him alone. I have already thought about having only 2, and how great it would be to get my body back and be able to stop working earlier (hopefully) and how they would probably be one year apart in school...so I could help out at their school...SO many thoughts since I found out I was pg in December.I think if you can do it and that is your gut instinct right now...children are a blessing. Re: question about planning on having 2 under 2

Honestly, I felt like their baby stages went by too fast. During my pregnancy I was too sick or tired to really hang out with DD, my DH spent most of the time with her. Then when DS was born it got even harder, I feel I missed out on her baby stage big time.
