Question about paying off and closing credit card account
I have had a Visa through a bank for years and never had a problem. Apparently a new bank has taken over their credit card account and it was turned to a Mastercard. I received a letter in the mail several months after this change took place so I was still paying my credit card to the original bank. Apparently the bank was "taking it's time" sending the money to the new bank or the new bank was taking it's time rectifying the accounts. Needless to say they called saying I am 3 months late with payment...ummm...no....I've been paying the bank I thought I was supposed to. I'm not sure if they put a derogatory comment on my credit report or not, I have to check, but if they did and I pay off and close this account which I am going to do anyway b/c I am ******, will the derogatory comment still show? I've never had this happen before. So frustrating!

What Kevin said, and always always always document every conversation or piece of mail. Names, dates, times, supervisor's names, etc.
You can contest something on your credit report but make good on the problem first.
