Question about open market
Let me preface by saying I know NOTHING about this... but I am just considering every option for the upcoming school year. I am miserable in my current school.
I looked on open market tonight and see some openings that look interesting to me. Can I contact the school directly?
Sorry if this is a stupid question

I would do both.
Last year I contacted a principal directly and got the job. It was the day open market closed and because I didn't apply through open market they weren't able to transfer me in the system without my principal's approval. Needless to say he refused to release me and I had to stay an extra year.
This year I went on open market and several schools I applied to contacted me. I was offered a job the last day of school and was able to transfer without my principal's approval. I didn't contact the school directly, just through open market.

I got my position from applying on the open market. Didn't contact the principal directly. But my hubby who is applying now, is emailing the principals and applying. GOOD LUCK!!
